As a key contributor to The Tech's short- and long-term financial planning, the Controller will continuously improve The Tech's operational efficiency and help senior- and mid-level management achieve the organization's goals by clearly communicating financial data and analysis. This exempt role reports to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer (CFOO).Responsibilities

• Drive the annual budgeting process in partnership with senior management and The Tech's Board Finance Committee.
• Ensure accounting compliance, including for annual tax returns.
• Manage the monthly closing of the financial books.
• Manage day-to-day cash flow and cash forecasting under the guidelines provided by the CFOO.
• Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
• Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation.
• Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
• Oversee and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
• Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls (internal and external), financial policies, and guidelines.
• Complete additional related tasks or duties as assigned.Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent level of experience and education in business, accounting, or related field.
  • Five or more years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager.
  • Professional certification, such as CPA (certified public accountant) or CA (chartered accountant).
  • 5 + years senior-level non-profit financial experience, with a focus on accounting for donations and release of restricted funds.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience managing all levels of financial reporting, annual audits, tax return preparation, and closing of books.
  • Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysis.
  • Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting.
  • Experience in managing payroll, with focus on streamlining accounting processes.
  • Exemplary history of financial project management.Working Conditions and Schedule
    • This is an on-site role with the possibility of flexibility for working some days at an alternative work location. Flexibility will vary depending on the needs of the job.
    • Minimum 3 days of work on-site, with additional on-site days as needed.
