Receiving Chemist Intern

San Jose, CA

Schedule: Full-Time - Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Pay: $19.50/hour

As a Receiving Chemist Intern, you'll step inside the world of environmental services, helping manage, test, and track chemical materials coming into our facility. You'll work with real samples, learn about chemical waste regulations, and see how science helps keep communities and companies safe.

?? What You'll Learn & Do

You'll be part of a dedicated team that ensures materials are received safely and processed properly. With guidance from seasoned chemists, you'll:

• Assist with receiving and identifying chemical materials
• Help collect, label, and prepare samples for analysis
• Learn to barcode and code incoming drums for tracking and disposal
• Gain hands-on experience in safe material handling and regulatory compliance (EPA, DOT, RCRA)
• Support bulking, repackaging, and lab pack processes
• Keep accurate records using our internal software systems
• Learn the basics of chemical shipping and outbound staging
• Understand proper PPE usage and safety procedures in a chemical handling environment

  • A current college student studying Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or a related technical field
  • Excited to learn about hazardous waste management and industrial safety
  • Comfortable working on your feet and lifting moderate weights

  • A team player who asks questions and takes initiative
  • Open to getting a little dirty-this is hands-on work in a real operating facility!

      Qualifications
      
      ------ Physical & Safety Requirements
      
      
      • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods (4-6 hours/day)
      • Ability to lift and move containers up to 25-50 lbs
      • Required use of PPE (gloves, goggles, respirator as needed-training provided)
      • Must pass basic physical screening (eye/hand coordination, flexibility, and strength)
      • Must be able to distinguish colors for labeling and safety purposes
