of Technical Staff, Communications Systems DevelopmentThis is a
technical leadership role for Communications Systems, Algorithms,
prototype and chipset development as per the need of Automotive
SerDes products.Job will entail:
- Developing understanding of the Standards such as ASA Motion
Link.
- Understanding the channel loss/attenuation/reflection, noise
and other impairments including cross-talk, EMI etc., plus EMC
issues present inside a car for a Serializer connected to a
De-serializer over Coax and STP possibly including one or more
connectors, in presence of channel.
- Defining and developing a new communication systems
specification (an "onsemi proprietary standards" document) that
will enable use of UTP while achieving similar performance as ASA
Speed Grade-3, while meeting the EMC requirements of the
customers.
- Taking a lead role in developing a working prototype for
demonstrating high-speed communications over UTP.
- Developing Communications Systems level specifications,
documents, and presentations for the benefit of Analog Design (AFE
Design), SoC architecture, DSP Firmware, and Technical/Product
Marketing teams, plus capturing those in documents to communicate
what needs to be implemented in the product by making presentations
and even providing tutorials as
appropriate.ResponsibilitiesCandidate preferably should have
hands-on experience on most of the communications systems level
building blocks of an end-to-end high data rate broadband wire-line
communications systems.A PhD in Electrical Engineering along with
25+ years or a MS in Electrical Engineering with 20+ years of
relevant industry experience in high-speed wire-line communications
PHY (e.g., xDSL or G.fast or Cable Modems (DOCSIS) or Gigabit
Ethernet (1000 BASE-T or N BASE-T or 10G BASE-T or Automotive
Ethernet (IEEE 802.3bp and/or IEEE 802.3ch)) design and associated
DSP algorithms is required.The job will require the candidate to be
a technical lead of a small group of communication systems and DSP
algorithms designers and will require leadership skills involving
clear communication of expectations plus technical review and
perform evaluation of the work.Job requires interaction with the
SoC Architecture, Analog Design (AFE design), DSP Firmware,
Emulation and Systems Test teams as well as with the
cross-functional teams like Technical Marketing, Product Marketing,
FAE etc.Moreover, the job also requires interacting with customers
including participating in meetings, demos, and testing in their
lab.This job also requires having a forward-looking vision
regarding where the technology is going and provide adequate heads
up to all of the above teams regarding future
requirements.QualificationsQualifications - Position
Requirements:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering with 25+ years or MS in
Electrical Engineering with 20+ years of relevant industry
experience in high-speed wire-line communications PHY (e.g., xDSL

required.
- Strong Communications Systems Engineering, Signal Processing
for Communications, DSP, Forward Error Correction (including
encoders and decoders).
- Ability to lead complex High-Speed broadband Digital
Communications Systems design and associated DSP algorithms
development.
- Ability to interact and work with cross-functional teams.
- Understanding of product development flow.onsemi is excited to
share the base salary range for this position is $179,860.00 -
314,640.00 exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. The
final pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on
geographic location, skills, education, experience, and/or
consideration of internal equity of our current team members. We
