THE ROLESenior Special Systems Project Managers at Cupertino
Electric handle daily operations of special projects and manage a
high-performing team. They provide internal and external
coordination with project partners and stakeholders. They establish
team member roles and responsibilities. They guide in defining
structure and communication expectations for efficient work. The
Senior Project Manager manages the team in planning, execution, and
financial performance of projects. They use business practices
consistent with our company values: people, safety, integrity,
innovation, and excellence.Scope: Receives assignments in the form
of objectives and determines how to use resources to meet schedules
and goals. Provides guidance to subordinates within the latitude of
established company policies. Recommends changes to policies and
establishes procedures that affect immediate
organization(s).Complexity: Works on issues of diverse scope where
analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of
factors, including an understanding of current business trends.
Follows processes and operational policies in selecting methods and
techniques for obtaining solutions. Acts as advisor to
subordinate(s) to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
Develops and administers schedules, performance requirements; may
have budget responsibilities.Discretion: Erroneous decisions or
failure to achieve results will add to costs and may impact the
short-term goals of the organization.Interaction: Frequently
interacts with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or
functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between
functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers
and the company. Often must lead a cooperative effort among members
of a project team.Supervision: Manages, perhaps through subordinate
supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or
department with responsibility for results, including costs,
methods and staffing. In some instances this manager may be
responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinate
employees.
- Strategic Planning and Implementation: Work at a high level to
develop and implement strategic planning. Ensure alignment with the
organization's goals and aims. Have 5-10 years' experience in
progressive and design-build projects in the respective industries.
Have experience in projects worth $50 million or more.
- Project Oversight: Manage the progress of various projects
within the organization. Manage the project team and staff,
ensuring effective performance. Manage project timelines, ensuring
projects stay on track. Must have knowledge and experience in
systems design, construction, commissioning, testing, and
integration. Must discuss systems scope from conceptual design to
completion. Manage stakeholder expectations and project
deliverables big picture.
- Budget Management: Manage and oversee project budgets to
prevent overspending and ensure cost control. Track all costs to
deliver projects within budget. SR. PM must know systems design,
construction, commissioning, testing, and integration related to
costing models. They must budget systems from conceptual design to
completion. Manage estimating teams and communicate promptly to
keep the project and PCOs on schedule. Manage the project plan and
logistics with cost planning. Work with 3rd party budget review
teams and support estimating and management teams. Partner with
subcontractors and internal groups for alignment and commitment.
Track overall installation quantities and widgets. Assist in QA/QC
audits and reviews by system. Ensure pre-functional testing is
managed and documented. Oversee testing plans and manage the
process and results. Instill and manage safety plans and
goals.
- Communication and Decision-Making: Ensure and manage all safety
plans daily. Ensure the team understands safety risks in special
systems projects like aviation and transit. Communicate with the
team, make staffing selections, and prioritize project tasks. Send
reports to the executive staff and stay updated on project
progress. Engage with stakeholders to ensure projects meet
expectations and specifications. Write and distribute project
updates to the executive team weekly and monthly. Manage
exceptional start-ups and ensure each project kickoff is consistent
and compliant. Communicate legal and contractual obligations to the
team. Assist in identifying and sharing plans to limit project
risks. Manage and communicate company standards throughout the team
and overall progression.
- Strategic Direction: Manage and deliver a project on time with
high standards and consistent quality. Handle complex judgments and
ensure alignment with organizational goals.ABOUT YOU
- Thorough knowledge of the estimating, project cost accounting,
scheduling, procurement, productivity tracking and reporting
principles necessary to profitably complete electrical construction
projects.
- Experience with union workforces.
- Verifiable experience of safe, reliable and integrity-driven
work habits, including working in unsupervised field settings, and
remote office locations when appropriate.
- Strong management and leadership skills, to include a history
of leading teams with a passion for developing employees.
- Strong ability to influence and drive positive outcomes.
- Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Project. Experience
with Accubid Classic preferred.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAny
combination of education and experience that would likely provide
the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession
of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.Education:
High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in
Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or similar
preferred.Licensure/Certifications: None required.Experience:
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with
a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; At least
five (5) years of Project Manager level experience in electrical
construction or related activities in a leadership role and
managing projects. 2 years of managing professional
