Product Manager - Data and AI
Company: Doxel Inc.
Location: San Francisco
Posted on: February 1, 2025
Job Description:
Construction is the 2nd largest industry in the world (4x the
size of SaaS!). But unlike software (with observability platforms
such as AppDynamics and Datadog), construction teams lack automated
feedback loops to help projects stay on schedule and on budget.
Without this observability, construction wastes a whopping $3T per
year because glitches aren't detected fast enough to recover.Doxel
AI exists to bring computer vision to construction, so the industry
can deliver what society needs to thrive. From hospitals to data
centers, from foreman to VPs of construction, teams use Doxel to
make better decisions everyday. In fact, Doxel has contributed to
the construction of the facilities that provide many of the
products and services you use everyday. We have classic computer
vision, deep learning ML object detection, a low-latency 3D
three.js web app, a complex data pipeline powering it all in the
background. We're building out new workflows, analytics dashboards,
and forecasting engines. We're at an exciting stage of scale as we
build upon our growing market momentum. Our software is trusted by
Shell Oil, Genentech, HCA healthcare, Kaiser, Turner, Layton and
several others. Join us in bringing AI to construction! The Product
Manager at DoxelBuckle your seat belts. We ship value fast! And, we
ship accurate! Data ain't beta. Users rely on our progress tracking
data to make decisions on billions of dollars of construction
everyday. If our data isn't right, our customers' core businesses
suffer. For example, one of our data center customers might start
operating one day later ($1M in compute profit gone!) or a hospital
might get to healing patients late. Your job is to deliver user
experiences that make it easy for our customers to make great
decisions with our near real-time status on their construction
sites. To do that, you'll collaborate with our engineering, machine
learning, and software developer team on data architecture
decisions, business logic, data visualization techniques,
integrations with business intelligence solutions, and APIs for
partners and customers. You'll balance the needs for a robust data
platform with the need to serve up data to our workflow features
quickly. You relish the challenge of replacing the tire while still
driving the car, so Doxel can release features that take advantage
of new platform capabilities as they become
available.Responsibilities
- Co-Lead a sprint pod focused on data visualization, data
structures, and business intelligence.
- Collaborate with product design to ensure data is visualized in
actionable ways that continuously build trust and deliver value to
our customers.
- Run discovery and collaborate to develop product roadmaps.

- Collaborate closely with engineering and quality assurance to
prioritize features, bug fixes, and process improvements.
- Write product specifications and user stories with clarity,
precision, and speed.
- Define product success, measure product success, and make
data-informed decisions to improve products.
- Learn the basics of how buildings are built (occasionally,
visit construction sites, so you can understand what your data is
representing). Health benefits for this role include steel-toed
boots (gotta protect that pinky toe on a construction
site)!Characteristics to Thrive in this Role
- Have 5+ years of experience as a product manager or technical
product manager working on software experiences highly dependent on
data. Experience in software for the physical world (like
construction) is a plus. Some experience with data science or
coding is a plus.
- Have a demonstrated ability to work closely with engineering,
product, and design peers to define, design, ship, and iterate on
high-quality products
- Be a systems thinker - delivering new features while
understanding their impact on the entire product as it is today and
how it will be in the future.
- Enjoy tackling ambiguous problems and developing elegant,
simple solutions.
- Entrepreneurial in spirit with a desire to work hard, operate
at warp speed, and drive the pace of value delivery to its
limits.
- Business-minded with a history of leading the execution of
software development projects that drive business results.
- You dig deep to make sure we're solving root problems and
ensure we're thinking about processes and systems in scalable and
maintainable ways.
- No detail is too small, you are hands-on when needed, and you
have a relentless drive to fit all of the small details into the
big picture.
- Strong communicator across different audiences and
communication styles. Able to simplify tough problems and explain
them to a non-technical audience. And, document solutions in a
highly technical way to technical audiences.
- Comfortable getting into deep technical discussions with
engineers about the pros and cons of different approaches.A
