in motion.Purpose and ScopeThis position exists to support and
service the manufacturing departments by providing a high level of
technical expertise. Provide manufacturing process expertise to the
plant that focuses on constantly developing and/or modifying plant
production processes at line level production equipment, tooling,
gauging, and in-process product designs for the purposes of
maximizing production capacity, minimizing manufacturing costs,
improving customer delivery, improving product quality, and/or
eliminating safety concerns. Lead continuous improvement projects
throughout the manufacturing process and procure the methods and
technologies practical for the operation. This position will assist
the plant in all areas of manufacturing requiring close contact and
coordination with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply
Chain while also autonomously collaborating closely and
continuously with corporate resources for the development of
manufacturing process and implementation of best
practices.Responsibilities
- Process and Equipment Design
- Use knowledge of manufacturing processes, production equipment,
and functionality to troubleshoot and develop improvements at line
wide assets.
- Demonstrated expertise in two or more complex manufacturing
processes and ability to spread basic level knowledge on said
processes.
- Perform the efforts in the install, testing of and the upgrades
to, the latest, most value added equipment, controls, and
technology making a smart use of resources and complying with the
corporate set standards with a close corporate collaboration.
- Use the results of statistical analysis of manufacturing
processes (e.g.: capability studies) and equipment performance
(e.g.: mean time between failures) to determine potential areas of
problems and improvements.
- Design, implement and document modifications to manufacturing
processes and the associated production equipment which maximize
production capacity, minimize manufacturing costs, improve product
quality and eliminate safety concerns.
- Process Improvements
- Perform statistical analysis of process items (e.g.: tool life
averages, abrasives usage, machine attainment, scrap, customer
complaints, etc.) to determine lines for improvement and cost
savings.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques
(e.g.: Value Stream Mapping, Quick Changeover, Kaizen, 5S, etc.) in
an effort to eliminate waste and improve performance.
- Utilize manufacturing knowledge and expertise to help make
decisions concerning operative process flow, and process
layout.
- Manufacturing and General Plant Support
- Provide general process support to the plant as required. Areas
of support could include, but not limited to, fluid systems,
equipment and line layouts, abrasives usage and tooling.
- Provide general administrative support to the Engineering
Section Manager. Areas of support could include, but not limited
to, quality control, cost analysis, business planning, and capital
budgeting.
- Interface with internal customers concerning product quality,
delivery and service. Assist manufacturing associates in team
problem solving and elimination of customer complaints and
processing issues.
- Operation and Maintenance Support
- Assist the Maintenance Department in developing Preventive
Maintenance (PM) procedures and programs.
- Assist Operation and Maintenance associates in diagnosing
equipment failures and corrective actions.
- As needed communicate with corporate/external support and
follow OEM directions for advanced
troubleshooting.Technical/Functional Skills
- Strong technical and analytical skills demonstrated through
project work resulting in significant process, quality, and cost
improvements.
- Ability to establish processes and standards as a way to apply
consistent practices throughout the business.
- Ability to compile, analyze and interpret data to drive
improvement and identify good practices.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Self-starter, detail-oriented, organized, able to manage
multiple projects.
- Ability to demonstrate agility and adaptability to support
various manufacturing areas.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including
ability/willingness to deliver training to individuals and
groups.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications such as Word, Excel,
Powerpoint and SharePoint.
- Additional computer skills preferred for 2D and 3D CAD software
(SolidEdge/AutoCAD)
- Intermediate English (Written and Verbal skills required to
interact in group with various Corporate resources)Education /
ExperienceRequired - Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, with 3+ years' experience in Manufacturing
